Ecatepec de Morelos is Mexico City’s roughest and most populated suburb in Mexico City. Its favela-like neighborhood is riddled with crime while its main road is so congested with traffic it can take at least an hour to get through. But in 2016 the installation of Mexico’s first public service urban gondola offered the inhabitants another option to commute. Mexicable, the 10-passenger suspended Urban gondola moves 30,000 commuters daily along a 4.83 km (3 mile) span with 7 stops. 30,000 commuters travel daily over Ecatepec considered to be one of Mexico’s busiest areas. Rocky Mountain Lift Services & Supplies Inc. was contracted by Leitner Ropeways to install the wire ropes on this new system.
