IBC Place is recognized around the world as a landmark of Vancouver’s skyline. It is a mult-purpose stadium with a seating capacity of 54,500. It is able to host a wide variety of sporting venues such as hockey, soccer, and football as well as concerts and other amazing events. The cable-supported fabric roof is the largest of its kind in the world. The retractable centre portion of the roof measures approximately 100m x 85m. It covers the entire playing surface and takes 20 minutes to either open or close. 1,800 tons of cable was used which is approximately 3 times the amount of the 4.4 km of cables spanning the Peak to Peak 3S (tri-cable) Gondola in Whistler. Rocky Mountain Lift Services and Supplies Inc. was contracted out to assist with the installation of the cables on the stadium.
