Alaska 2009 Haul Rope Change

Mount Roberts Tramway, Juneau, Alaska

Located south of downtown Juneau at the cruise ship pier, the Goldbelt Mount Roberts Tramway, operating since 1996, brings visitors to an elevation of 1,800 feet above sea level.  As the tramway car ascends the steep mountain side of Mount Roberts, it passes the rain forest finally reaching the summit which offers expansive views of Juneau, the Gastineau Channel, and beyond.  It is the only aerial tramway in southeast Alaska and is one of the most vertical tramways in the world having received the Governor’s Award for facility accessibility design.  Rocky Mountain Lift services and Supplies Inc. was contracted out to supervise the haul rope exchange on the tram.
