In the mining industry, cable belt conveyor systems are used for long-distance material handling where vertical and horizontal curves are required. They provide a reliable, cost-effective, and well proven means of transporting a wide range of materials over the most rugged and arduous terrain spanning long distances from the mines to load-out facilities. These systems can reach lengths of up to 50 kilometers. The conveyor belt is supported by two endless wire rope cables, one on each side of the belt. These cables not only support both the carry and return sides of the belt but also provide the driving mechanism for the conveyor. Over the years, cable belt conveyors have seen work in underground locations and in overland locations where environments can range from frigid temperatures to tropical climates.
